Although the Code38 has been designed for a lifetime of use, it still requires a little TLC to stay in top condition.

Rust and corrosion
All Code38 wine knives are manufactured using high grade stainless steel which is corrosion and rust resistant. However, if your wine knife is left in damp environments then it is possible for corrosion to occur. If corrosion occurs we recommend that you clean and lubricate your wine knife. Then buff stained areas with a scotchbrite pad or soft bristle brush.

Lubrication
Spiral, Foil cutter and Counter Lever pivots all require periodic lubrication using light machine oil

Sharpening the foil blade
Sharpen the foil cutting blade just as you would a chef’s knife. The only difference is the point angle. The Code38 has a 60 degree blade angle which gives the blade a very robust cutting edge specifically designed for cutting against glass bottle necks. For video demonstration click here

Cleaning
If lint or sticky substances have accumulated around the foil blade or spiral, your Code38 may be cleaned in a mild solution of detergent and water. After cleaning, dry your wine knife by gently heating in a WARM frypan or oven and apply light machine oil to spiral, foil blade and counter lever pivots.
